Especially when you and your husband decide to repaint your dining room and kitchen before your Thanksgiving guests arrive.
Our dining room was due for a facelift. If I had to guess, the room was painted in the 90s sometime- a soft cream color complete with a country blue heart shaped stencil border. [And also because when we took everything off the walls, you could see where they had hung for years and years.]
-Before-
I love color. If you remember, my craft room is bright yellow. I dislike white, cream, tan and beige. So boring. I had picked out a color for our kitchen (back in May!) and my husband thought we'd do the dining room the same color. That idea was busted when my parents brought down a stained glass light fixture that my Dad had made that used to hang our kitchen growing up. When my parents renovated their kitchen, the light fixture was shunned in the basement. The light fixture is very bright and colorful. It was not going to work with Maine Sky, the grayish-blue I had chosen for the kitchen.
After looking at paint swatches, we decided on a deep, rich orange with a brown accent wall.
-After-
People have said that the dining room looks smaller. I prefer the term "cozier." We still need to decide what we want to hang on the walls, but that can wait for now.
Today, I'm going to work on painting the second coat in our kitchen. (We only got one coat done before my sister and her family came to visit for Thanksgiving.) Now I want to paint all the rest of the house. We're already talking about what to paint the living room...
Thanksgiving was so nice this year. My husband and I hosted and it was delicious. Here are the rolls I baked for it: Gramma Cather's Oat Meal Dinner rolls.
I'm working on Christmas presents for my nieces and nephews, too. I'll post pictures when I get them done.
I also need to make our Christmas cards. Oh gracious, I hope I have enough time! Who else is cranking out the handmade gifts this year? <3
