Lately, my tasks have been to clean and go through things in our house. It was my husband's grandma's house. Things- vases, figurines, plates, samplers- that no one said they wanted are still here. Years ago, my mother-in-law had said that she'd like the silver cruet set in the dining room. (There is a yellow piece of paper in the one glass bottle that says my mother-in-law's name on it.) Well, when the opportunity presented itself, my mother-in-law said she didn't need it. "Sure, I'll keep it, " I said, and there it sat, blackened and dusty.
Yesterday, I decided to see its true potential. I got out the polish, a few rags and went for it.
On the base, you can see a design: a silhouette of men on camels, with a city and palm trees. It made me think of Christmas.
Beautiful details in the handle.
I told my mother-in-law I polished the cruet set and it looked beautiful! She looked at me and said, "Maybe I do want it." Maybe there's something you have that needs a little work to show its true potential; work at it and make it shine. <3

As you can see, I had never seen this item in it's true glory when i said i did not want it.... now I have lsot my chance but am glad that my daughter-inl-aw took the time to polish it for herself. I hope she keeps it a long time.
